Is it permissible for Muslims to reside or pray in the home of non-Muslims?

It is permissible for a Muslim to reside in the house of a non-Muslim if he has purchased or rented it after purifying it from traces of polytheism and impurities. As for staying for hospitality and acquaintance, it should be avoided except in cases of necessity, according to the hadith (definition): "Do not accompany anyone except a believer, and let no one eat your food except a pious person," and "A man is upon the religion of his close friend." As for praying in the homes of non-Muslims, there is no harm in it if the spot is pure and free from pictures and revered statues, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The earth has been made for me a place of prayer and a means of purification."
