Is it permissible to pray in the house of a non-Muslim?

It is permissible to pray in the house of a Christian or any other non-Muslim, due to the generality of the hadith: "The earth has been made for me a mosque and a means of purification." Imam Al-Bukhari titled a chapter "Chapter on Prayer in Churches," where Ibn Abbas prayed in a church as long as it did not contain statues. If prayer is valid in churches and synagogues, then its validity in the house of a Christian is even more so. The Permanent Committee has issued a fatwa permitting prayer in the house of a Christian, affirming its validity.
