What is the ruling on an individual praying in his home behind the Imam of the mosque, when the mosque is adjacent to his home?

Prayer performed at home behind the mosque's imam is not valid. Nor is prayer with the imam in the mosque valid unless the worshipper is inside the mosque, or outside the mosque and the rows are connected. However, prayer performed outside the mosque while there is space available inside the mosque is not valid. The Permanent Committee has stated that the prayer of one who prays in his home, relying solely on hearing the loudspeakers from the mosque, is not valid, unless the rows extend to his house and he can follow the imam by sight and hearing. The Committee emphasized the obligation of performing congregational prayers in mosques, based on the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "Whoever hears the call to prayer and does not come, there is no prayer for him except for one with an excuse," and his words to the blind man: "Do you hear the call to prayer?" He said, "Yes." He said, "Then respond."
