Do the grandchildren of the deceased grandfather's siblings inherit, or is the maternal brother the sole heir?

If the deceased leaves only a maternal sibling, then he or she receives one-sixth as a prescribed share, based on the Almighty's saying: "{And if he has a brother or a sister, then for each one of them is one-sixth}." The remainder is taken by the sons of the paternal uncle's sons (the grandchildren of the grandfather's brothers) as residuary heirs equally, whether they are sons of a full paternal uncle or a paternal uncle from the father's side. As for the son of a maternal uncle's son, he does not inherit, nor do the granddaughters of the grandfather's brothers (the daughters of his paternal uncle's son) inherit anything.

It is advisable to refer the matter to the Sharia courts or consult scholars directly to verify the heirs, wills, debts, and other rights before dividing the inheritance.
