What is the ruling on making and selling sweets and cakes that are in the shape of living beings?

It is not permissible to shape sweets or cakes in the form of living beings, due to the generality of the hadiths that prohibit image-making, such as: "Every image-maker will be in the Fire," and "Indeed, the people who will receive the severest punishment from Allah on the Day of Resurrection are the image-makers."

The basis of the prohibition in image-making is that it pertains to living beings, whether it is sculpting, painting, or weaving, and whether it is realistic or imaginary.

Scholars have stipulated the prohibition of making images even if they are made of sweets. For example, it is forbidden to depict a complete animal, whether it is permanent or not. It is also not permissible to sell images and crosses, even if they are made of gold, silver, or sweets.

Therefore, it is forbidden to make statues out of sweets and sell them.
