The miswak is one of the praiseworthy traits encouraged by Islam, and it has numerous benefits, among them: it purifies the mouth and pleases the Lord. It purifies the mouth, pleases the Lord, whitens the teeth, and sweetens the breath. It straightens the back, strengthens the gums, slows down aging, clarifies the complexion, sharpens intelligence, multiplies rewards, eases extraction (of the soul), and brings to mind the Shahada at the time of death.
