What is the ruling on delaying vows and expiations beyond their due time, and is there a due time for fulfilling vows?

A temporary vow must not be delayed beyond its appointed time without a valid excuse. If it is delayed, it becomes obligatory to fulfill the vow along with an expiation for breaking an oath due to the delay. However, if the delay was due to a valid excuse, then only fulfilling the vow is required. Expiations are flexible in their performance, but it is better to hasten to fulfill them.
