What a woman earns from her work is her exclusive right, unless the husband stipulates, as a condition for her working, that she gives him a portion of it, in which case she must fulfill the condition. If a wife conceals a portion of her husband’s salary or takes from his money without his knowledge and spends it on the household and children, then if this was within the limits of the customary obligatory maintenance, she is not required to return it. As for what she spent in excess of the obligatory maintenance, she must return it or seek her husband’s permission to keep it. If she fears harm, she can return the money without informing him. If she cannot determine the exact amount due, she must estimate what she believes to be his right.
