Were Heaven and Hell in existence before the creation of Adam (peace be upon him)?

Paradise and Hell are created now and will never perish. What appears from the texts is that they were created before the creation of Adam, peace be upon him; Adam was made to dwell in Paradise, and the jinn were created from fire before Adam, as Allah Almighty said: "And the jinn We created aforetime from scorching fire." Scholars have explicitly stated that Paradise and Hell were created before the creation of humans and jinn.
