Is not the variation in English translations of the Qur'an, and the distortion of meanings in some of them, an alteration of the Word of Allah? And is it not better to have a unified translation for each language?

It is permissible to translate the meanings of the Qur’an into English or other languages for those who are qualified among the experienced and trustworthy. Indeed, it is a religiously required act, for the Qur’an was revealed for all people, and translating its meanings facilitates its reach and their access to it. There is no objection to multiple translations, provided they are free from defects and are undertaken by people of knowledge.
