What is Islam's view on the death of Isa (Jesus), peace be upon him, and his descent at the end of time?

The definitive truth regarding the death of Jesus, son of Mary (peace be upon him), is that Allah took him up to Himself, both in spirit and body, raising him alive and saving him from being killed, as Allah Almighty said: "And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [rather] it was made to appear to them [so]... Rather, Allah raised him to Himself." The Muslim Ummah has unanimously agreed that Allah raised Jesus (peace be upon him) to heaven. Ibn Taymiyyah refutes those who claimed his death, citing Allah Almighty's saying: "Indeed, I will take you in full and raise you to Myself."
