The definitive truth regarding the death of Jesus, son of Mary (peace be upon him), is that Allah took him up to Himself, both in spirit and body, raising him alive and saving him from being killed, as Allah Almighty said: "And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [rather] it was made to appear to them [so]... Rather, Allah raised him to Himself." The Muslim Ummah has unanimously agreed that Allah raised Jesus (peace be upon him) to heaven. Ibn Taymiyyah refutes those who claimed his death, citing Allah Almighty's saying: "Indeed, I will take you in full and raise you to Myself." He argues that this does not mean death, for if it meant death, Jesus would be like any other believer, which contradicts his unique status. As for his descent at the end of time, it has been authentically narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: "By Him in whose hand is my soul, it is indeed imminent that the son of Mary will descend among you as a just judge, he will break the cross, kill the swine, abolish the jizyah, and wealth will abound so much that no one will accept it."
