Is it permissible for a woman to take money or a replacement after her jewelry is lost at the maintenance shop?

Scholars have differed regarding the craftsman's liability for what is in his possession. The opinion affirming liability holds that the craftsman is responsible for what is lost while in his custody if he had sole possession. This is supported by the fact that Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, held Anas ibn Malik liable for goods that were lost. Therefore, the craftsman is liable for jewelry belonging to the woman that is lost, and she is entitled to receive an equivalent if it is fungible, or its value if it is not.
