What is the ruling on excessive vaginal discharge, and does it follow the ruling on سلس (incontinence)? Is ablution required for every prayer because of it? Is it necessary to change inner and outer garments if they become wet? Is it permissible for a woman to follow a jurisprudential opinion that contradicts a previous fatwa issued to her, while fearing the pursuit of concessions? And how can one reconcile the Prophet's choice of the easier option with the avoidance of doubtful matters?

It is permissible for a layperson to adopt the view of a scholar they trust when there is a difference of opinion, and it is permissible to adopt some dispensations (rukhṣah) out of necessity. It is also permissible to switch from following one shaykh to following another trustworthy one. There is no harm in acting upon a lenient opinion for a certain period and then reverting to the more cautious opinion when there is a dire need. Vaginal discharge is pure but invalidates ablution. A woman afflicted with incontinence should perform ablution for each prayer after its time has begun. It is permissible to follow the Maliki school, which does not necessitate ablution for every prayer for someone with incontinence when there is extreme need. As for yellowish discharge (ṣufrah), it is impure and considered menstruation if it occurs during the usual period or is connected to blood. The Prophet, peace be upon him, was not given a choice between two matters except that he chose the easier of them," applies specifically to permissible matters (mubāḥāt) and not to forbidden (muḥarramāt) or doubtful (mushtabahāt) matters. Caution in matters of religion is commendable.
