Is it permissible for a pilgrim in Mina on the Day of Sacrifice to perform the Eid prayer, and is this considered an innovation (bid'ah)?

The Eid prayer is not a Sunnah for the pilgrim in Mina, because Mina is not a metropolitan center, and because the pilgrim does not have an Eid prayer obligation. Considering its performance as a recommended act is an innovation (bid'ah), for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and his successors never performed an Eid prayer in Mina. Rather, the "Eid prayer" in Mina is the throwing of the Jamrat al-Aqabah.
