Is it permissible to wear shoes in whose manufacture stearic acid, derived from animal fats (including pigs), is used, if this acid has chemically transformed into a pure substance?

It is permissible to use shoes and bags made from the skins of cows and other animals whose meat is permissible to eat, whether they were slaughtered or died a natural death, provided their skins have been tanned. This is based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "If the hide is tanned, it has become pure." However, the skin of a pig or a dog does not become pure by tanning.

There is no objection to using these manufactured goods if they contain an adhesive derived from a forbidden animal source, such as the fat of a dead animal or a pig, as long as it has been chemically treated and transformed into a different substance with altered properties.
