Does my remaining unmarried and religious distance me from people in Western societies, and must I adapt to their behaviors in order to live among them?

We advise you to continue your uprightness and pride in your religion, to shun the ignorant, and to draw closer to Allah by reflecting on the Quran, for the strength of one’s connection with Allah suffices one from needing creation. Moreover, seeking beneficial knowledge frees the heart from worries. You may also inform trustworthy sisters or relatives of your desire to marry; there is no fault in that. And ask Allah persistently to grant you uprightness and a righteous husband, and seek out the times when prayers are answered.
