How do we prove the existence and descent of the the Holy Qur'an from Allah (the Exalted), and what is the evidence for the truthfulness of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in his message?

The Holy Quran is tangible and perceivable, and the evidence of its divine origin is clearer than the sun. Allah revealed it to an unlettered Prophet who had not read books. Yet, he spoke of what had happened in the past and what would occur in the future, and it came to pass exactly as he foretold. Allah challenged the eloquent Arabs to produce anything like it, or ten surahs, or even one surah from it, but they failed. This challenge continues until the Day of Judgment. The esteemed scholar Al-Qasimi mentioned that this challenge was presented in several verses, including: "And if you are in doubt about what We have sent down upon Our Servant, then produce a surah the like thereof," (2:23) "Say, 'Then produce a book from Allah that is more guiding than both of them [the Torah and the Quran] and I will follow it, if you should be truthful.'" (28:49) "Say, 'If mankind and the jinn were to gather in order to produce the like of this Quran, they could not produce the like of it, even if they were to aid one another.'" (17:88) They were unable to produce anything like it, and more than thirteen hundred years have passed without anyone being able to oppose it. This is proof that it is the speech of the Creator of all powers and might. The miraculous nature of the Quran is also evident in its narration of unseen matters, the fact that listening to it never causes boredom, its compilation of sciences previously unknown, and its accounts of past events and the conditions of nations.
