What is the punishment for a girl who ran away with a young man who deceived her and promised to marry her without her parents' knowledge, bringing shame upon them? And is the married young man who did not rape her punished for his action?

A girl running away with a foreign man is a great evil and a manifest sin that necessitates repentance to Allah Almighty by abandoning the sin, regretting having committed it, and resolving never to return to it. Her ruling and the ruling of the man in this world is discretionary punishment (ta'zir), short of the prescribed punishment (hadd), as long as they have not committed the abomination of adultery. Discretionary punishment is entrusted to the ruler, and individuals have no right to impose it.
