A woman knows she has become pure from menstruation by one of two signs: complete dryness or seeing the white discharge. In both cases, ghusl (ritual bath) is obligatory for prayer, and it is permissible for the husband to have intercourse with his wife after ghusl. Colored discharges (yellowish or brownish) after purity are not considered menstruation unless they occur during the usual period, and istinja' (washing private parts) and wudu' (ablution) are required for them.
