Should the worshipper look at the index finger when supplicating during the sitting between the two prostrations, by analogy with the Tashahhud?

Scholars have differed regarding the position of the right hand between the two prostrations (sajdahs). Some said it should be extended flat on the thigh, while others said one should point with the index finger, as is done in the tashahhud.

As for the worshiper's gaze, the Sunnah is to look at the place of prostration during standing and bowing.

As for the sitting position for the tashahhud or between the two prostrations, the Sunnah is to look at the place where one is pointing (the index finger). Some scholars said one should look at one's lap.

The wisdom behind this is to prevent distraction of thought and to ward off whispers (from Satan).
