What is the Sunnah regarding the position of the fingers during the sitting between the two prostrations (jalsat bayna as-sajdatayn), during the light sitting (jalsat al-istirahah), and the left hand during the Tashahhud? And is it recommended to imitate jurists, such as An-Nawawi, who advocate for joining the fingers?

Scholars have differed on how to position the fingers of the left hand between the two prostrations or during the Tashahhud. Some have advocated for keeping them together, which is the stronger opinion, while others have suggested spreading them moderately. In Al-Mughni by Ibn Qudamah, it states: "It is recommended for the worshipper, when sitting for Tashahhud, to place the left hand on the left thigh, extended with fingers together, all fingertips facing the Qiblah." In Rawdat al-Talibin by Al-Nawawi, it is mentioned: "Should he spread them or keep them together? There are two views: The more prominent one is to spread them moderately... The second is to keep them together so that they face the Qiblah. I say: This second one is more correct, and Sheikh Abu Hamid, in his commentary, reported the consensus of the companions on it." The manner of sitting for resting is similar to the manner of sitting between the two prostrations, and it is permissible for a layperson to adopt the less preferred opinion if he is advised to do so by someone whose knowledge and piety he trusts.
