Is it permissible for the seller to take compensation for the period the commodity remained with the buyer, if they reconciled to annul the sale due to the buyer's inability to pay the price?

Iqalah (cancellation of a contract) is the annulment of a contract and the revocation of its ruling by mutual consent of the two parties. Jurists have differed regarding the ruling of iqalah with a price different from the original price. Some are of the view that it is not permissible except with a price equivalent to the original, while others permit it with a price greater or lesser than it. The more preponderant opinion is the permissibility of iqalah with a price different from the original price, whether it be less or more, especially if it is compensation for a defect in the merchandise or a change in the market.
