Is there such a thing as Prophetic Medicine, and if so, why is medicine not mentioned for all prophets, such as Jesus, peace be upon him? Is it permissible to link the profession of medicine with prophethood and divine رسالة (message)? What is the ruling on that?

Prophetic medicine encompasses all that has been reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, concerning medicine. This includes prophetic narrations about the benefits and properties of certain substances, recipes he used to treat his companions, or his guidance on human health regarding food, drink, and other matters. The authenticity of prophetic medicine has been proven through experience. Some researchers do not believe that medicine is related to prophethood, arguing that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was sent to teach religious laws, not medicine, and he said: "You are more knowledgeable in the affairs of your worldly life." What has been authentically reported from him, peace and blessings be upon him, that relies on experience, can be taken or left. As for why there is no mention of the medicine of other prophets, it is because their scriptures have been altered, and because we have been commanded to follow Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and his law abrogates all previous laws.
