Is it true that Mu'awiyah insulted and called for the killing of Ali and Ammar – may Allah be pleased with them both – despite the existence of prophetic hadiths concerning them, such as: "Whoever insults Ali has insulted me, and whoever insults me has insulted Allah," and "Whoever antagonizes Ammar has antagonized Allah, and whoever hates Ammar has hated Allah"?

The hadith "Whoever antagonizes Ammar, Allah antagonizes him" was narrated by Imam Ahmad and Al-Hakim, who authenticated it. It is also narrated as a mursal hadith, with some discrepancies. As for the hadith "Whoever curses Ali has cursed me, and whoever curses me has cursed Allah," Al-Albani declared it weak and described it as Munkar (denounced/rejected). Even if it were authentic, it does not necessitate disparaging Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him), as there is no proof that he reviled Ali. On the contrary, Mu'awiyah was aware of Ali's virtue. The claim that Mu'awiyah called for the killing of Ali and Ammar is false and baseless. Mu'awiyah did not go out to fight Ali until Ali approached Syria with his army to compel him to give allegiance, and he did not order the killing of Ammar.
