ما معنى "إلا امرأته كانت من الغابرين" في القرآن الكريم؟

The meaning of "كانت من الغابرين" (she was among those who remained behind) is that she was among those who remained in Allah's torment. Al-Qurtubi mentioned that "غَبَرَ" means both 'passed away' and 'remained', being a word with antithetical meanings. Al-Zajjaj said that it means those who were absent from salvation. Al-Shawkani narrated from Abu Ubayd that its meaning is 'from those who lived long lives', while most linguists believe that "al-ghabir" refers to 'the one who remains'.
