Is it obligatory to pay attention to doubts in cases where there is suspicion of obsessive thoughts (waswas), or fear of their recurrence, or fear of contracting them, and does not paying attention contribute to recovery or prevention?
One afflicted with Waswasah (obsessive doubts/whispers) must ignore the doubts until they are cured. If they doubt whether what they are experiencing is not Waswasah, they should ignore this doubt. Whenever they strongly suspect that their attention to these doubts is a form of Waswasah, they should not pay heed to this doubt. Therefore, they must completely disregard the Waswasah and abandon these thoughts and elaborate interpretations until Allah grants them recovery.
