A divorce that occurs because the wife forced her husband to pronounce it requires elaboration:

- If she insistently demanded divorce or mistreated him, leading him to resort to divorce, then it is valid. If it completes three divorces, then she becomes unlawful for him until she marries another husband in a marriage of genuine desire.

- If she coerced him into divorce by threatening murder or similar acts, and he genuinely believed she would carry out her threat, or if she threatened to kill herself and he also genuinely believed she would carry out the threat, then nothing is binding on him.
