The statement "I am unmarried" is not an explicit pronouncement of divorce. Rather, it is an implicit statement [kinayah] that could mean divorce or something else. If he intended divorce by it, then it takes effect. But if he intended to lie or meant something else, such as that he does not have a wife who pleases him, then no divorce occurs, due to the absence of the intention for divorce, which is a condition for implicit pronouncements.
