Does a triple divorce occur if a husband swears to his wife by saying: "You are trebly forbidden to me if you let anyone ride our car and drive it" - meaning her brothers - then he later allows her to do so, and her brothers actually ride the car?

If the husband intended divorce by his statement: "You are forbidden to me by three (divorces)," the majority of scholars hold that he cannot retract this suspension, and the wife is divorced by three (divorces) if she does what he swore by.

However, Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah is of the view that he can retract the suspension, and this is what Shaykh Ibn 'Uthaymeen preferred.

It is advisable to present the matter to the Sharia court for a ruling, as the judge's verdict resolves the dispute.
