What is the ruling concerning a husband who abandons his pregnant wife without asking about her or providing for her, then disowns the newborn and its mother because she named the child without his consent?

The spouses must fear Allah and fulfill each other's rights. The husband must know that his wife has rights, and the Prophet exhorted that the best of men are those best to their families. Allah has forbidden the husband from retaining his wife with the intention of harming her. What the wife did by naming the son without the husband's permission does not justify the husband's shortcomings; he is still obligated to provide housing, maintenance, and clothing. If the husband is unable to fulfill his responsibilities, the wife must present her case to her guardian to compel him to do so, or for the separation to occur amicably, even if it necessitates resorting to the judiciary.
