What is the ruling on practicing daily meditation in a specific posture, while reciting adhkar and reading the Qur'an, without any proximity to idolatry, taking into account that it leads to mental clarity, spiritual development, and drawing closer to Allah? And is it permissible to say that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, meditated in the Cave of Hira?
What we have decided in our fatwas is clear: the described session that increases the aura resembles the actions of Hindus and idolaters, and that is forbidden by Islamic law. We advise you to stop doing that, for worshipping Allah according to what is prescribed in the is sufficient, without the rituals of the people of idolatry. The discussion here is about rituals with specific arrangements received from idolaters, not about mere contemplation or seclusion. What the Prophet (peace be upon him) did in the Cave of Hira before the revelation is not a prescribed for the Ummah, because Muslims do not need it. Therefore, none of the Companions did it after Islam; rather, the Sunnah is to perform i'tikaf (seclusion for worship) in mosques.
