What is the ruling on a woman's love for another woman to the extent of being unable to part from her?

The indecency between women is called "sihāq" (lesbianism), and it is defined as a woman engaging in sexual acts with another woman. Jurists mandate discretionary punishment (ta'zīr) for it, and the testimony of its perpetrator is not accepted due to her فسق (transgression/immorality). Ibn Qudamah described it as zinā (fornication/adultery) and cursed. Al-Izz ibn Abdus-Salām prohibited a lesbian from looking at a Muslim woman or a Muslim woman from uncovering herself in front of her. If the relationship mentioned is indeed "sihāq", then repentance and abstention from this crime are obligatory, as is avoiding gathering together to prevent evil. The abandonment by husbands might be a cause for this deviancy, and both women should seek a Muslim husband. As for 'ishq (passionate love/infatuation), it is a dangerous sin that may not be accompanied by lust, and it reaches the point of the lover's enslavement to the beloved, which destroys the soul and the relationship with Allah. The solution is complete separation.
