Is it permissible to organize a competition for predicting the results of football matches and offer financial prizes to the winners without imposing subscription fees?

It is not permissible to conduct competitions that involve financial or other prizes based on predicting the winner in football matches, for several reasons:

1. Unlawfulness: These competitions are not considered lawful; rather, they are prohibited, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "There is no prize (sabaq) except for an arrow, a hoof, or a paw." So, a prize (sabaq) is only permissible in these matters and what is similar to them from instruments of war, because they encourage jihad.

2. Guessing with False Conjecture: Predicting the outcome of a match or its score is guessing with conjecture, as the result cannot be determined with certainty.

3. Cooperation in Sin: Organizing these competitions is considered cooperation in sin and aggression, because competing in football only leads to moral corruption, and what is obligatory is to forbid it, not to establish competitions based on it.

Therefore, matches involving money or prizes are considered gambling and are forbidden. Consequently, the aforementioned competition is impermissible, and a Muslim should occupy himself with what benefits him in his religion and worldly life.
