Does the Prophetic warning, "Whoever is called by other than his father's name has disbelieved," apply to a woman whose father's name was changed in official documents for the necessity of study and livelihood, while she is known by her true father's name and holds fast to her lineage to him?

It is not permissible to claim lineage to anyone other than one's father while knowing this, for whoever does so has committed a grave sin and is threatened with Hellfire. However, if the matter was without knowledge or choice, then there is no sin upon one who was attributed to a father other than his own while he was young.

It is obligatory to strive to correct the name in official documents as much as possible. If this is not possible, then there is no blame. The true lineage should be made known among relatives and those around to prevent the mixing of lineages and the rulings that result from it, such as mahramiyyah (being unmarriageable kin) and inheritance.
