Is it obligatory to rest and sit every four rak'ahs in Tarawih prayer, or is it permissible to pray continuously?

There is no explicit evidence from the Prophet's Sunnah regarding resting between two sets (tarwihatayn) in Tarawih prayer, except for what Al-Bayhaqi narrated from Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, which is a weak hadith.

However, it is reported from the Salaf, including the Companions and others, that they used to sit between every two sets without any disapproval, and this is what the jurists have agreed upon regarding its permissibility.

The Hanafis explicitly stated its desirability (istihbab), and the Hanbalis considered it preferable to not leaving it. Meanwhile, the Malikis and Shafi'is mentioned it as part of the description of Tarawih prayer without explicitly stating its desirability.
