What is the status in Islam of the Hadith of Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him: "O young man, I will teach you some words: Be mindful of Allah and He will protect you; be mindful of Allah and you will find Him before you. If you ask, ask Allah; and if you seek help, seek help from Allah. Know that if the whole nation were to gather together to benefit you with something, they would not benefit you except with that which Allah has already written for you. And if they were to gather together to harm you with something, they would not harm you except with that which Allah has already written against you. The pens have been lifted, and the scrolls have dried."?
This Hadith holds a great status due to the doctrinal advice and educational prophetic guidance it contains, beginning with the command to guard Allah by obeying His commands and avoiding His prohibitions. For whoever guards Allah, Allah will guard him in all his states. The Hadith also includes asking Allah alone, seeking His help, and refraining from asking created beings. Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali said that this Hadith contains great advice and comprehensive principles regarding the most important matters of religion.
