Divorce is subject to the five legal rulings. Divorce is obligatory in two cases: First: If a man makes an oath of abstinence (ila’) from his wife for more than four months and does not have intercourse with her, he must divorce her. Second: If the woman is not chaste and the husband cannot reform her.
