What should a person do when someone is on their deathbed, and what are the rulings for dealing with a deceased person who requested not to be placed in the refrigerator, and should anyone sleep in the room with them?
Some scholars dislike leaving the deceased alone in a house, without any evidence from the Quran or Sunnah. Among those who disliked it were some Hanbalis. Imam Al-Ajurri stated that it is disliked to leave the deceased alone in the house, and that his family should spend the night with him. Al-Nakha'i mentioned that they (the early Muslims) would not leave the deceased alone in the house, because they used to say: "Satan plays with him," and his family is not obligated to do anything if they spend the night with him.
