What is the ruling on preventing the groom from entering upon his bride on the wedding night and demanding money or an outing from him by way of jest?

Celebrations and weddings are permissible as long as they do not include forbidden acts such as intermingling (of sexes) and musical instruments. It is not permissible to stay in a Muslim's house for a period that harms him or his family, or to enter at a time he dislikes; for the guest may harm the host. It is disliked to ask the groom for money, even in jest; for it may embarrass him and make him offer the money unwillingly. Therefore, it is obligatory to avoid these actions and customs due to the potential embarrassment, distress, and harm they may cause to the groom and his wife.
