What is the ruling on a moment of silence or reciting Al-Fatiha for the souls of martyrs?

Standing in silence as a sign of mourning or to salute the soul of the deceased is one of the reprehensible innovations (bid'ah) introduced into Islam. It was not practiced during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), nor by his Companions, nor by the righteous predecessors (Salaf al-Salih).

It is an imitation of disbelievers by some ignorant Muslims. What is known in Islam regarding the rights of the deceased is to supplicate for them, give charity on their behalf, and mention their good deeds.
