Is it permissible to stand for a minute, for example, in silence, in mourning for a man who has died?

Standing silently in mourning for the dead, or as a salute to martyrs and dignitaries, is among the reprehensible innovations (bid'ah) that were not part of Islam. It is an imitation of disbelievers, and the principles of Tawhid (monotheism) reject it. The correct Islamic practice is to supplicate for the dead, give charity on their behalf, and recall their virtues.
