Is a female animal permissible as a sacrifice (Udhiyah)?

The sacrificial animal must be from the Bahimat al-An'am (grazing livestock), free from defects, and have reached the age stipulated by religious law. It is permissible to sacrifice both male and female animals equally. A six-month-old lamb (Jadha' of sheep) is sufficient if it has entered its seventh month or more. As for goats, cattle, and camels, only an adult (Musinnah) is sufficient: for goats, one that has completed one year and entered its second; for cattle, one that has completed two years and entered its third; and for camels, one that has completed five years and entered its sixth.
