How authentic is the Hadith: "Go, for you are free (at liberty)"?

The narration of the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying to the people of Mecca on the day of the conquest, "Go, for you are the freed ones (at-tulaqa’)," does not have an authentic chain of transmission with this wording.

Indeed, it has been mentioned in Ibn Hisham's Sirah and other sources with weak, mursal (missing the Companion in the chain), mu'dal (missing two or more consecutive narrators), and unknown chains of transmission.

However, the naming of those whom the Prophet (peace be upon him) set free on the day of the conquest as "at-tulaqa’" is established in the Sunnah and has been mentioned in authentic hadiths in Al-Bukhari, Muslim, Ahmad, and others.

So, at-tulaqa’ are those whom the Prophet (peace be upon him) favored on the day of the conquest of Mecca and set them free, not enslaving them.
