Is it permissible to recite an entire Qur'an (khatmah) with the intention of its reward being for the reciter and for more than one deceased person at the same time? And is the reward distributed among them, or does it reach them in full? And does the same ruling apply to voluntary fasting?

It is permissible to dedicate the reward of reciting a complete Quran (khatmah) or voluntary fasting to a living or deceased person. It is also permissible to dedicate a portion of the reward while retaining the rest. In this case, the one who performed the act receives the amount he intended for himself, and the others share the remaining reward. This is what Imam Ahmad stipulated, as the reward belongs to the one who performed the act, so he has the right to dedicate all or part of it.
