Is it permissible to combine the intentions of completing the Qur’an for myself and for another deceased person?

It is permissible to dedicate the reward of reciting the Qur'an to the deceased. This is the view of the Hanafis and Hanbalis, some later Malikis, and the chosen opinion of Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn al-Qayyim. The Hanbalis explicitly state the permissibility of dedicating all or part of the recitation to the deceased, and that the deceased benefits from that reward. Therefore, there is no impediment to completing the recitation of the Qur'an for the deceased. However, it is more preferable to perform acts upon which there is agreement, such as supplication, charity, Hajj, and 'Umrah.
