Is it permissible to play poker online with virtual points and not real money?

Poker is a card game. It is forbidden if played for money, as it is a form of gambling, which is only permissible in competitions explicitly mentioned by the Prophet, peace be upon him.

Even if played without money, it is also forbidden according to a group of scholars, due to its resemblance to backgammon (nard), which relies on speculation and conjecture. Backgammon is forbidden due to the Prophet's saying, peace be upon him: "Whoever plays backgammon (nardashir) is as if he dipped his hand in the flesh and blood of a pig," and his saying: "Whoever plays backgammon (nard) has disobeyed Allah and His Messenger."
