Will one who possesses knowledge but does not act upon it be held accountable, if their acquisition of that knowledge was not by their own choice?

Whoever does not act upon their knowledge, or is not sincere in their learning and teaching, will be held accountable for it on the Day of Judgment. As stated in the Hadith: "The feet of a servant will not move on the Day of Resurrection until he is asked about his life and how he spent it, and about his knowledge and what he did with it..." In another Hadith, it is mentioned that the first people to be fueled into Hellfire are "a man who learned knowledge and taught it, and recited the Qur'an" but he did so only to be called a scholar and a reciter. This does not mean abandoning the pursuit of knowledge; rather, one should strive to purify their intention for the sake of Allah.
