What is the amount of Zakat due on a sum of 16,000 Egyptian Pounds in the bank, if more than a year has passed and it is owned by a non-working wife?

The amount of zakat (definition) due on money that has reached the nisab (definition) is a quarter of a tenth (four hundred Egyptian pounds). The wife's unemployment does not affect the obligation of zakat. Zakat must be paid promptly once a full lunar year has passed since the money was acquired, and it is not permissible to delay it. If the money is deposited in an interest-based bank, it must be withdrawn and deposited in an Islamic bank, and the usurious interest must be disposed of by spending it on the welfare of Muslims, along along with sincere repentance.
