What is the ruling of the Sharia concerning a husband who has divorced his wife many times and with different wordings? Does the divorce take effect each time? What is the ruling regarding the wife's living with him after the divorce, and is it permissible for her to seek divorce from him in this situation? What is the ruling regarding her marrying another man in a Mut'ah marriage after these circumstances?

A woman divorced three times by her husband becomes unlawful for him, and she does not become lawful for him again until she marries another husband, he consummates the marriage with her, then he separates from her, and her waiting period (iddah) ends. The staggered divorce, where there is a retraction between each of the two pronouncements of divorce, makes the wife unlawful for the husband by consensus. However, even if there were not three pronouncements of divorce, each separated by a retraction, she still does not become lawful for him, according to the majority opinion. Mut'ah marriage (temporary marriage) is forbidden. The spouses must repent for their laxity in observing Allah's limits if they have committed a major sin by continuing to live together after knowing of its prohibition. If they were ignorant, they must learn and cease their actions.
