Is it permissible to perform the highly expensive ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection) procedure, which can only be financed through usurious bank loans, given that the couple has not conceived in ten years and are approaching 37 years of age?

Resorting to artificial insemination for procreation is permissible with legitimate Sharia controls, but borrowing with usury for this purpose is not permissible, as usury is a great major sin and is only permissible in cases of considered Sharia necessity. Children are a blessing from Allah; He grants them to whom He wills and makes whom He wills barren. What is with Allah cannot be sought through disobeying Him. One must be content with Allah's decree and persistent in supplication, and Allah may grant children after long patience. The patient believer who anticipates reward for the loss of this blessing will meet his Lord, having been blessed with many other bounties, and is promised Paradise as a reward for his patience. All good is in the hand of Allah, and a person does not know where good lies for him.
